Clapham’s distinctive and quirky Book Festival returned with a Programme of varied events.
Saturday 14 October – Festival Day at Omnibus Theatre, Clapham Common
3.00-4.00pm Crime Time with Simon Brett and Nicola Williams
CWA Diamond Dagger-winning writer of detective fiction, playwright and screen writer Simon Brett talks with barrister and judge Nicola Williams about her crime fiction and her new book Until Proven Innocent.
5.00-6.00pm Kate Mosse in conversation with Elizabeth Buchan
The international bestselling author of the Languedoc Trilogy and The Burning Chambers series, The TV & radio broadcaster and founder of the Women’s Prize for Fiction talks with bestselling novelist and Clapham resident Elizabeth Buchan. Kate Mosse was unable to attend the Festival and Peter Kemp, literary critic of The Sunday Times stepped in at the last moment.
7.00-8.00pm Melvyn, Lord Bragg interviewed by Tom Sutcliffe
The eminent cultural polymath and parliamentarian celebrates his life in the arts, discussing fiction, his book Back in The Day, writing, broadcasting and Parliament (and probably a lot else besides ) with fellow R4 arts broadcaster Tom Sutcliffe.
The Festival partners with Time and Leisure Magazine to present a series of online events in the week after the Festival Showcase Day. High quality live discussion and debate about books, authors and all things literary, often with a Clapham connection.

Novelist and Southfields resident Ivy Ngeow talks about her new book, with a protagonist from Balham, The American Boyfriend.
19 October, 7.00-8.00pm, on-line Sarah Bax Horton
The great, great granddaughter of a policeman who worked on the Jack the Ripper case, Sarah Bax Horton talks about her new book One-Armed Jack and her fresh analysis of the evidence.
Sunday 22 October 3.00-5.00pm Clapham Literary Trail
Local thriller author Julie Anderson leads a guided walk around the literary sites of Clapham.
